MORE than 1,000 Kenyans abroad are expected to attend an investment conference in Nairobi next month.

The event, organised by the Kenya Diaspora Alliance, will discuss their role in the country’s economic development.

Remittances from Kenyans abroad have hit close to 10 per cent of the national GDP.

In a statement yesterday, event chairman Kefa Otiso said the conference will be held on December 9.

It will seek to strengthen investment programmes by Kenyans in the diaspora, he said.

“The convention will engage local political and economic actors to foster development,” Otiso said.
