KENYA DIASPORA ALLIANCE (KDA) GRIEVE AT PASSING OF HON/AMB PADDY AHENDA
NAIROBI, Kenya: The news of the sudden death of Hon/Amb Paddy Ahenda, hitherto
Kenya’s Ambassador to Qatar, has come to us with great shock and sorrow.
Hon Ahenda was only recently in Kenya, and in his characteristic jovial mood, mingled
freely with friends, relatives and colleagues – even in the village. There was no
indication that he was unwell. His unexpected death has robbed KDA’s “VIP Diaspora
Forum” of two very key members, in such quick succession with the equally untimely
passing of Amb/Dr Wilfred Machage.
In his short stint in Doha, Hon Ahenda left indelible marks. He feathered the largest
diaspora SACCO in the Gulf region that at one time owned about a third of a leading
taxi hauling platform in Nairobi. More recently, Qatar turned over one of the highest
registrations with IEBC, among diaspora voters. With the World Cup due to be held in
Qatar, few diplomats would spearhead the involvement and participation of Kenya’s
skilled and semi-skilled labour than Amb. Ahenda. He shall be surely, deeply missed.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of
Kenya, Government of Qatar, Family, Relatives, Friends, the larger Kenyan fraternity
and indeed the wider diaspora community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shem Ochuodho
KDA Global Chairman
And AfDA USA Inc President
