Kenyan Diaspora Shaping the world!
A tale is told that as Kenyan Leaders visited a Nuclear reactor years ago, a technicality arose and the leaders were asked to take a break in their tour while the leading Nuclear expert was sought.....Minutes later when the expert came,...lo and behold "He was Kenyan"..
Isn't it interesting to know that Kenyan Diaspora are making a significant Economic Impact the world over?
Dr. Shem Ochuodho key Convener of DICL, is one such person. Tonight (13th March 2014), Dr. Ochuodho was finally inducted into the Computer Society Of Kenya's (CSK) Hall of fame.
Who introduced and ran Internet in Kenya for the first time ever? One significant morning i.e. October the 20th 1994 at 3.a.m? You guessed it.... Dr. Shem Ochuodho! Would you believe that on that night, Kenya ran/relayed it's internet for the first time ever, from Dr. Shem's bedroom?...
In his capacity as an ICT Expert, Dr. Shem has had the privilege of experiences spanning well over 40 countries across Africa,(including Rwanda and currently South Sudan). Dr. Shem has been and continues to be instrumental in impacting on and advising on the structuring and development of ICT Systems.
It is interesting to note that Kenyans are truly shaping and impacting the world! Be it in ICT or other fields. Just as MPESA the world's novel phone based Money transfer system changed the world, so too will M-KURA the world's first ever voting/polling application. It was befitting that the very night Dr. Shem was inducted into the Computer Society of Kenya's Hall of Fame, he actually spoke about M-KURA the Smart Phone based Polling/Voting application. M-KURA was conceived and developed in Kenya.
As M-KURA rolls out, lets see what impact it will have for governance globally!
